The Crafer Family
The church family of St Mary's and St George's would like to extend their congratulations and best wishes to the Crafer family on the birth of their son Rowan - we ask for your continued prayers for Rowan and the entire family .
Break In at St Mary's
Many of you will know that in the early hours of the 16th May, there was an attempted break in at St Mary's. We are pleased to report that the attempt was foiled when the burglar alarm alerted the Police - nothing was taken and the "would be burglers" never gained access to the Church although they did a great deal of damage to the vestry door. We suspect that our Rector was non too pleased to be taken to the Church in a Police car at 4.10 in the morning!! (and there is no truth in the rumour that he was arrested!!)
The Sunday morning service had to be held in the Community Hall as we couldn't get into church as the door was jammed. We also had some visitors from Australia (who were only here for a week) but who never managed to see inside our church building!
Flagpole - St Mary's
I suspect that the William (Ward) and Martin (Crafer) will never ever be asked to raise the flag again as St Mary's (to celebrate St George's Day) as ever since the flag has been stuck at the top of the flagpole - mind you I suppose we could always say that we were showing our support for the England football team.
Crosstalk
Crosstalk, our Parish Magazine for June/July is now available. It costs just 30p per edition or £1.80 for the whole year (What a bargin!!)
Any other contributions for the August/September edition should be given to Anne Eastwood as soon as possible please..
Monthly & Weekly Parish Prayer
We meet together at 9.30 am on the first Saturday of each month in the hospitality area of St Mary's and every Thursday at 7.00 pm in the Rectory. We pray for the needs of the Parish of Wombwell. Everyone is welcome.
It is a very informal event and there is no pressure to pray out loud if you are not comfortable with that. Do come and join us every Thursday at the Rectory or on the 1st May in St Mary's.
House Group
Each Wednesday there is a small Group meeting for Bible study and fellowship at 7.30 pm at the home of Jane Reynolds at 11, Pashley Croft, Wombwell - Why not come and join us
Men's Group
The Mens Group meets monthly on a Thursday evening for friendship, fellowship and fun. Interesded??? Then please contact Philip Shergold for further details on 01226 754862 or look at the notice boards at the back of both churches.
Parish Notice Sheets
From July, the weekly Parish Notice sheet (which is given out at all Church Services) will be produced monthly - the rationale for this is that it will save the environment (fewer sheets!!) and also will enable us to put events in our diaries earlier - it is hoped tha this will enable us to avoid clashed caused by short notification of events.

Joshua Melllor - Update
Joshua - who is the percussionist in our Music Group (and at University studying Music) is currently working on his next CD to be entitled "Aspire"
You will remember that his previous CD "For Starters" was well received and reached the top ten in the RnB Charts. It is still available for downmload from Itunes or Amazon. Available on Newscore Records (Joshua's own label) you can obtain your own copy for £3 plus £1.25 p & p - alternatively you can obtain a copy from Church - see Andy or Sonia.

Caroline Ward - Youth Music Theatre
Caroline would like to thank everyone who attended her concert "An Evening with Caroline Ward" held on the 15th May 2010 at St Mary's Wombwell.
As you will know she has been offered a place in A Beggar's Opera one of the Youth Music Theatre UK productions of 2010. The cost of the project is £900 and proceeds from the concert are going towards this.
